Welcome

Hold the applause. We all want a word in edgewise.

I know that there are inflammatory things about this world. There are defamous things, outlandish things that exist for their own look in the mirror. There are exaggerated gestures, silent banners, and spike-laden nameplates. These things need little mention. They tend to mention themselves.

So here, in my pause, I will focus on other things. On moments when we realize that our bubble is just that, a bubble. On moments when we all realize that we can choose.

On prideful things. Tokens of social success that give me hope, relief at the thought of true acceptance, or at least the thought of settling for its possibility. And other gifts, tokens that leave me searching for that thing that holds us all together as humans, because I must now cross compassion off that list of humane uniters.

And on silent things. Aha moments when love wins and the world breathes out again, and people stop waiting for the other person to smile first.

These things are more about what we all have in common than where we differ. They are about answering questions that are bigger than us. They are about wanting to be and do better, and wanting to be understood, and celebrated for our work, and not for our genetics.
These are my things, and they are your things. These things are me, and they are G.
